Hosier Lane Melbourne

Sorry a rather picture heavy post but an interesting one regardless you will see why when you read on.

Hosier Lane Melbourne is known only for one thing and that is GRAFFITI and some of it is amazing.  This lane is constantly changing with the artists that compete for wall space to show off their talents and abilities.  Myrene took Flat Susan to have a look and check out some of the wonderful art to be found.  Whilst she was there she meet up with an artist in the process of putting his bit of expression onto the wall.  Strangely this must of meant to have happen as Myrene is a strong supporter of the Sea Shepherd an anti whaling ship that frequents the southern oceans of Australia to stop the murdering of the whales.  Well the artist that happened to be putting his mark on the wall was working on a piece for the Sea Shepherd.  The Sea Shepherd has won a land mark law suit against the Japanese to stop whaling in the southern oceans of Australia, now onto the rest of the world to stop whaling.  Flat Susan was so enthralled by all the art and some of the creatures on the wall were incredible.  Just to note it is not an illegal offence to paint on these particular walls in this lane it is for people to express themselves without the fear of legal retribution.

Kept Flat Susan away from these monsters
Yep even this monster too
I know Turtle Power

Should be good one for Halloween

All of this in one small lane not far from the iconic landmark of Federation Square & Flinders Street Station in Melbourne but a very popular place for people all over the world to visit.  People just seem to flock to this little lane in droves.

Flat Susan was mystified to see all this art in one place and so happy to see the Sea Shepherd being added whilst Myrene just happened to be there.  It was meant to be......  Save the whales.................

Thanks Myrene for your contribution and help with Flat Susan

Hugs Eliza

WOW!! Thanks for sharing, pretty impressive graffiti! we see some amazing street art in the two cities I live next too, unfortunately it is always a little dark. I think a persons art is a little window into their soul...

Wow and wow again, Eliza, what fantastic street art! The talent of some people is awesome. That image of Moses parting the waters was so evocative. Poor Flat Susan is going to need a rest after all her recent adventures Down Under, I think - far too much excitement for any skinny girlie for too long, and I'm glad you protected her from the monsters!

I do love blogging. I'd never have heard about this otherwise, and it was fascinating reading all about it.

I love Graffiti Art and was fortunate enough to see it in Berlin where it had so much meaning on the Berlin Wall. I can imagine how Myrene must have felt when she saw that huge painting - what talent - and Flat Susan got to see it too. Gosh she is certainly being educated down under.
Hugs, Neet xx

You are right, Eliza! I do love this post and I would love to visit this lane! How wonderful that we are able to see this place because of Flat Susan's adventures!

Great! I love it! And I am another whale fan so this is great to see! Where we used to live in Bristol (UK) there is a lot of (good) grafitti art. Some artists, like Banksy, are world famous and people come from all over the world to see his art, like your Hosier Lane I suppose.
Thanks for posting this.
