WOYWW 211

Julia thank you for hosting the best blog hop in the world, where everyone gets to link up and show their work spaces in all their glory or disgrace.  If you want to join in then pop on over here and have some fun.

Time really does fly when you are having fun, this week has been really productive in many ways the builders are fixing my rear decking that looks out over the whole of the backyard.  I am also getting some roofing for the decking so I can sit out there when it is raining, so loads has been done outside.

The inside time has been absorbed by a school assignment and DD has chosen her topic as Masquerade, so therefore we had to get creating on the first of the masks.  For all you teachers out there, no I did not do any for her I actually instructed her on the best path to achieve the results she wanted.

So onto the mask, created using the tissue paper effect which had to be used as part of her process, you see earlier in the year she had to present a journal with different techniques and surfaces/backgrounds.  Wow did she blow her art teacher away with some of them, of course this was a stepping stone to the future and the tissue paper was used then as a technique to now it had to too.  So with stage one of the mask nearly completed, more will be done in class she is underway and really enjoying herself.

Creating the jester curly bits to go on top was a little bit of a challenge but she came up with an idea to sew the material on first with chipboard to give the curls stability and curl.  Then she covered the rear of that once it was trimmed with beautiful gold paper as you can see in the photo.  I have to say it turned out brilliant.  Curling of the pieces was not so easy, we and yes this is where I helped, we curled the bits by hand, manipulating the card to curl and then we popped a tacking stitch in place to make it stay curled. Then all of this was attached to the face. She has added a bit of bling to the eye and deliberately given the eye texture.  I have to admit this is one really cool assignment to do, she still has more masks to create later, for a start she is off to a good one.

Yoda is comfortable sleeping like a baby, he has not discovered the sun beaming in through the window today .

Please leave a comment I love them and your link number if you are part of the WOYWW desk hop as this will make it easier for me to return the visit.

Happy Wednesday Everyone

That is absolutely fantastic. What a talented daughter you have. I have a mask (or two) that I saw at CHA - this is the link

http://hickydorums.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/woyww-and-my-new-favourite-designer.html

might give a few ideas for future masks. Not that it looks as if she needs them. She has obviously inherited your talent.

Lovely to see Yoda curled up so contentedly - he is such a lucky cat when you think of how he was when you rescued him.

Hope your BF is continuing to improve and is pretty much recovered by now.

Hugs, Neet xx 16 (thanks for your earlier visit) xx

To answer your earlier question, which I totally forgot to do... I don't have a pennant die, I just marked the centre of one strip about half an inch from the bottom, layered the three papers together, held them with a peg making sure the marked one was on top and then snipped through all three layers with sharp scissors.

Glad you've had a productive and creative week! Your DD is very talented, but how could she not be with such a talented mother, huh? ;) I'm about to ship a package off to you and wondering if you can let me know if you have KaiserCraft's stamp called Flutter? Joann's had a super sale last week and I picked up an extra for only $1.49! Thinking of you, of course. :)

Bleubeard is jealous. He wants a covered deck, too. And he wants to sleep like Yoda.

I personally like the mask. Your DD was smart to pick that theme. Have a super WOYWW from #17.

Your desk looked great this week with all those beautiful flower embellishments waiting to be played with and DD's mask looks gorgeous but it’s Yoda that gets my vote this week. He looks so comfy there, I just want to give him a big hug…….mind you, BoJangles might have something to say about that if I did.
Thanks for stopping by this week.

Happy Crafting!
