Use A House Shape - Artful Times Challenge Blog

Over at the Artful Challenge Blog they have posted a new challenge and it is all about using a house shape.   A friend recently moved into a new home and I had to make a card to welcome them and how perfect is the timing, honestly I think some people are reading my mail.

Now onto how this baby was built

I used for the background some old pianola paper stuck it down with some decoupage paste, then inked it with Vintage Photo & Frayed Burlap Distress inks, accentuating the wrinkles a little, I then cut from an old dictionary the base for the house and some corrugated card for the roof, this was just random cutting, no measurements at all.  I mounted the dictionary paper onto some sturdy card and trimmed the edges with scissors to give it a boarder.  I cut some clouds out with some old scrapbook paper by hand and then mounted them onto card also. Then inked them slightly with some stormy sky distress ink.  I mounted the house with foam mounts to give it some height then added some rub on's from Kaisercraft called Rustic Elements for the tree and hearts & White Hideaway for the star burst flowers on top of the tree.  The tree didn't seem to be uplifting so when I added some white burst flowers this seemed to work a treat, so I added a few more around the bottom of the card.  I mounted all this onto some heavy brown cardstock then mounted the whole lot onto some Natural Craft Card.  I cut the letters for the word 'home' with the Scan n Cut machine and mounted them onto some random paper in the stash and double mounted this too. I finally added some rub on hearts and then some red pen around the edges of the hearts to accentuate them.  Oh and I added the banner rub on also a Kaisercraft one from the Hopscotch line.

Oh and those words on the right of the tree they were already there from the pianola roll, they look really cool ha.... well I like them.  I hope I have not rambled on too much and you enjoy the card.

Now this is the house that Eliza has built LOL

How about you joining in to and build yourself a little house, don't forget to have fun.

Hugs Eliza

Love the house Eliza, great minds think alike, I worked on several new home cards over the weekend! Can't believe I missed you and Yoda yesterday - going to read your post now. I think it's this darn cold and the pills making me weird (well weirder than usual. Cx

Hi Eliza,
Love the card! The white accents on the tree are great! I think maybe they are from a snowflake set by SU? Very effective!
Thanks for visiting earlier too.

I love the house that Eliza built - they're great when they grow like that. It really is special, and the white flowers really make it. Have a great weekend, Chris # 29

Hi Eliza,

Oh, I absolutely love this card! It would also make a wonderful mixed media canvas.

Isn't it interesting how timing just seems to come together sometimes.

Hugs,
Kay

That is brilliant! Love it! What is Pianola Paper please? I am imagining it is the paper roll that used to go through the piano on a roller which played a tune. Am I warm?
Thanks for the lovely detailed description of how it was made too Eliza.
Hugs, Neet xx

It's gorgeous. I recently crocheted a little house shape for a new home card but it was way more simple than this idea! x
