So WOYWW 169 here is my desk at 3.00am in the morning because I have just got home from work and I really will not have time later today to do it, after all it is Wednesday anyway.
No I have not tidied my desk, it is in natural messy, survival stuff. Started making a card with a die I got a few weeks ago, mind you the idea in my head is not what is getting on the card. Stuff everywhere, new stamp from StampIt a Christmas one, not even opened, I had great plans for it too. Some new pencils that arrived from O/S they are sticky pencils, great for picking up gems etc. Heat gun, ruler, glasses can't see without them. LOL
Want to know why I am showing you this then head over the the Stamping Ground Blog and look at more Julia can explain it all to you. Be warned it is addictive touring the desks of the world.
If you want to read on about my week feel free it has been difficult to say the least, if you don't then I understand and thanks for visiting please leave a comment I love them and I will get back to you, that is the correct thing to do. Happy Crafting.

Melbourne to Wodonga
So onto the rest of my story I did my normal voluntary work on Wednesday, found out some bad news that same afternoon, the next day found out more bad news then I decided that a little drive up north might help. Melbourne to Albury/Wodonga which is on the New South Wales Border. See map...........
I say a little drive....

So strange in this new house there are other animals here too
From my house to the border and back is 740kms. Just as well I like driving isn't it! But I picked up this little man who needs love, care and serious dieting help. He is a Devon Rex Pedigree Cat that was a show cat at some stage in his life. Yes like you can really see that in him now. Actually he is meant to be petite in structure and size but I am sure he has been hanging out with whales. Yep you got it whales, you know those big things that flop around in the ocean that people should be protecting. Well this kitty cat looks like one of them. He has been neglected big time he has been sleeping in the boot of a car, in the freezing cold, not getting exercise but the owners think they love him. Well I took him from the boot, no cat box just a small box of food and a litter tray so he can go to the toilet in the car. Yes I am serious, this is disgusting. He was a beautiful cat - show cat of pedigree status, what happened? I don't know. He is so overweight he cant climb, jump, nothing, he is poor of sight in both eyes because of cataracts. His eyes were glued together and oozing puss, I have to clean and treat them many times a day.

I just had my eyes cleaned and my back rubbed now I want a belly rub yep I got it - a lovely belly rub........ I'm happy now
So I am keeping him for awhile to try and sort him out. His owners are homeless due to the way they live, I am not even going to go there with this one, they need help themselves. I would love to help them but not in the way many would like.....I am a bad girl for thinking evil thoughts...... The whale seems to have settled OK and enjoying the life he should of had before. Loved and cared for...........
My cats are carrying on in strange ways like 'who in the hell is this stranger' 'what in the hell is he doing here' 'we don't mind our cousin coming over to play for a holiday but this whale' yep that is what they are saying, bottom dollar. Guess what later today their cousin is back again for a holiday and the chicken she is already here. I have an animal sanctuary for a house, I have gone completely mad, insane, off my rocker, bonkers...
My question to you - Would you have done the same for this little man?
Thanks for listening
Hugs Eliza

It takes an outstanding person with a huge heart to take on the craziness and heart break that you have. He probably thinks he is in heaven right now! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
Yes definitely would have done the same, I absolutely abhor animal cruelty. What a lucky moggy to have 'found' you. I wouldn't give him back to the owners, no way!
My little Minty had the same sort of history.
Good on you,
cheers, Elaine #10
some people can be so kind and some can be so awful, that is one lucky cat to have found you! have a great week trace x 48
Bless you for driving that far and rescuing him - he still looks lovely and is in a much better place now - I would like to think that I would do the same but I never have so who knows. Give him a cuddle from me.
I love the card you've found time to make, and am so utterly blown away by your efforts for the kitty....and that you manage some voluntary work in between your real work schedule..you are a woman of heart.
What a wonderful thing you did - drive all that way, deal with the people up there (you're right btw, you have to be tough with some folk) and try and sort out that poor creature who has been treated so shabbily... I think your reward is that he looks happy to be at your place, you can sense his relaxation from the pictures :D He knows he's in good hands now..give him a tickle from me!!
Good for you, Eliza, am proud of you...
hugs, LLJ #71 xx
You are a hero, ok so a mad hero;). You have shown us all what real love is all about. That poor whale is lucky and so are all of the other animals in your care. Thank you for sharing your inspiring animal adventures.
Wow that's so generous of you, time commitment everything. Take care Zo xx 118
You are an amazing person. I'm sure that cat is grateful.

Oh you are doing a lovely job! I bet the cat enjoys his new home! Really an effort driving so far! The distances in Australia look so small on the map but then you drive forever to get somewhere! I have driven from Adelaide to Melbourne a few years ago - thought it would be a relaxing drive on the great ocean road but it was a big rush to get from A to b...still I loved Australia!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian
Thanks for commenting on my blog - I just wanted to say that we have red postboxes here too but they have painted gold ones in every city where an Olympian achieved a gold medal a couple of weeks ago (its all very exciting here with the Olympics at the moment!) and also we really dont have to live with bomb scares here normally - this was apparently an unattended bag left in a shopping centre so they evacuated and shut the whole place down for two hours while it was investigated (our hotel was in the middle of the centre) - that doesnt happen often here either! My Dad is well on the mend now thanks - bless him!
He is a very lucky cat to have you take him in and give him such good care!! :)

Poor cat, humans can choose how to live to a certain extent, animals cannot. At least puss has a nice home now though. Good for you.
Little Whale has had a rough go of it, but that's all turned around for him now, thanks to you! Blessings! Darnell #125
Australian driving standards are unique. Love the work you are doing with the cat rescue and the kitty pic is wonderful. Amazing what food, bath and a little love can do.
Sandra @20
Sorry about the bad news you had, hope that is all fixed. that cat is a beautiful colour. 740, you could have reached Canberra hahaha. Hope this next week gets better for you

I think I would have done the same, but your heart may be bigger than mine! I did rescue the dog I have now, but that was pretty easy since he came right to my front door and begged to get in. :) I'm late enough that I see a new post where you got a few lovely stand-by cards completed and received a new ATC from the States. Your cards are beautiful and I'm glad you had some time to play! Thanks for stopping by my blog already and leaving a sweetsie comment. ;)
Hugs, Deeyll
Lovely cards on your desk! And so kind of you to take care of the cat.
Hugs,

Hi there Eliza,
Thanks so much for popping over and thanks for sharing ~ happy belated WOYWW! Thanks also for your lovely thoughts and tooth okay now praying about maybe not getting it out as have one other day surgery this year too and dont want too much will see how it goes for next week..
ah your dear Moggy, think she is most Queenly in her own way and now will be looking gradually a little trimmer each week, well done you! Shaz in Oz. x #64
I totally would have done the same for the little man (erm, not so little man). I do fancy a Rex cat sometime in my future. I often threaten to steal the one my vet has (or trade him for whatever cat I've brought with me that day). So sad. Well, I jumped forward from WOYWW 170 to find out more about the whale. I'm glad he's in a good home now. He seems quite pleased with himself. Pray tell, diet a cat?! How do you do it?
What a special act of kindness Eliza,
I missed this post earlier so just nipped back from today's desk hop to find out more about Whale.
I think he's a very lucky pussytat to have you in his life! ^..^
I think you'll both get so much out of being together.
Enjoy!
Wow, just traced back the story of Yoda - what a wonderful woman you are. Saint-Cat-Woman. Almost made me cry reading this. How can people be so thoughtless. I hope you end up keeping him.
Hugs, Neet xx
Thank you for sharing Yoda's story. That explains to me, why he mostly keeps his eyes closed. And yes, I would have done the same. My dogs were from a rescue station and one was very sick (she died last year, after recovering very well, but her heart was the problem) we could give her some nice years with a lot of doggy fun, and Luna is the other one still with us.
Yoda has an unusual charisma, you can tell he went through hard times. It is good he landed on your planet.
Hugs
Gabriele
