WOYWW 163

The sun is shining here in Melbourne but for how long, they say we will have showers and hail later today.  As you can see the Camellia Japonica tree in my bay window garden is starting to flower, this tree is older than me, yep, it really is and no I am not telling you how old I am, but I do have a son who is 26 years old. LOL I just love this tree, it reminds me of my grandfather, he planted it before I was born.  The house I live in was in fact my grandparent’s house and well i bought the house about 22 years ago, did some renovations and well I don't ever want to move again, this here is my roots and I am comfortable.  Mind you when I say this, you just never know what is around the corner, what new prospects lay ahead in life; this is the mystery of life I suppose.  Enough about the house etc.

What’s on my desk, I am excited to say I have been scrapbooking, I am now on my third layout  in over 10 years and going strong. LOL Yes I stopped for awhile and have only just got my act into gear to start again.  This layout is of a family holiday to the Gold Coast Queensland when my daughter was only little.

Oh and I got my delivery of Tim’s New Markers, yep they are yummy and I finally got one of those spinning things that hold your applicator tools and stains or paints, all set up on the desk in front of me, just need some more, Hooter is watching it to make sure it behaves itself and does not spin when it shouldn't. LOL

I have the standard stuff like scissors, glue, my black bucket which I use for waste on the desk, it helps me keep it organized.  You will notice that there are little strips of tape on the edge of the bucket they are over cuts that I don’t want to waste and are waiting to be used next.  I also have a bookmark; I just finished reading another book.  A corner punch and Tim’s ruler.  To the left of my desk is the wire baskets that house the ‘in use stamps’ that are stored in CD boxes, they sit in this holder whilst on my desk to help keep them together, another way of staying organized.  You see I used to be the messiest crafter on the planet; yep I hold the record for tripping over my own stuff trying to get to my desk and then had to push it on the desk with ease to not push things over the edge etc so I had some room to craft.  Been a neat freak now for 5 years, sometimes I do think about jumping off that wagon. LOL

Why am I showing my desk, head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and check out everyone else’s too from all around the globe.  I better shut up now as Julia might shoot me for rambling LOL  She wont really but I hear stories how she can crack that whip or do ? nah she wont.......... LOL

If you visit please leave a comment I do love them and promise to get back to you as soon as I can.

Bye for now
Eliza

Wow what a history and great memories that house has for you, I wouldnt sell it or move either but there is that AROUND THE CORNER bit that can change everything. I see you have those Tim Holtz markers, I still have the old Adirondak markers from years ago and they still work.

What a lovely tidy, organised desk, Eliza! I keep bits of tape like that too, not wanting to waste them! I have a little tin bathtub that had a teddy in it, and I keep my used kitchen roll in there - gradually buildlng up with colour to be used in other projects! I loved hearing about your lovely "family tree" - how marvellous it must be, year after year, seeing it flower again... Such continuity.

Hello from the Gold Coast where it's dreary and raining today.
Your tree is lovely, wish I had it to look out on,my view is of the first tee on a golfcourse which isn't half bad I guess but a tree would be better.

Great to see hooter is keeping tabs on everything.....love your desk.

Hi Eliza,

How wonderful to live in your grandparent's house. The tree looks beautiful - how nice that it's right outside your workdesk window.

Thanks for giving up a peak at your space.

How lovely to have restarted scrapbooking again! I too am going through a lull in scrapbooking much prefering to make tags or sew at the moment but I am not worried I know the circle of life will come back round and I will scrap again! Love your tidy desk and such a good idea to have a little bucket on the desk to put your tools in whilst working - I usually always have to spend five or ten mins looking for something I have just put down! Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl No. 58

Hi Eliza - What an enormous Camellia - how beautiful to have this reminder of your Grandad right outside your window every day. I have a camellia outside my front room window here in the Uk (same colour too) and I didn't know they could get so big!! Mind you mine has to cope with our weather! WOYWW Hugs from Helen 18

What a beautiful outlook to have when your crafting Eliza, I just look out over more maisonettes but behind them is a water meadow the river and a bit further away a beautiful lake, so I’m not complaining.
Loving your new purchases. I’m eagerly awaiting the delivery of my new Distress Markers too…..can’t wait!

Happy Crafting!

Your desk looks very well organised and tidy even though you are in the middle of putting a layout together. Isn't it funny how no one seems to know what to call those twirly things for holding inkers - yours is the second post mentioning one today :) Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #75

I am a semi neat-freak too and I do like to start with a clear desk for a new project. Just don't go much on the tidying away! Isn't scrapbooking addictive? I love it but don't get enough time. Still I shall start another one soon, and I know once I do, I will be hooked.
The jury is still out on the new TH distress markers. I am not keen, but they cost a lot, so I shall persevere and see what I can do with them. Kate #131

How lovely that you're in the same house that your grandparents were in, roots of all kinds there, in the house and outside with the tree :) Lovely

Now steady on, you don't want to peak too soon with another LO!! LOL I like the Austin Powers lettering. I've got the music from it in my head now!!!

Thanks for your visit, Eliza. Yes, those inks are awesome! I'm actually generating more kitchen roll than I know what to do with - and that's only from a couple of sessions with the inks! They don't have any sparkle, just really vibrant colour, but you could always add some Perfect Pearls or other micas afterwards if you wanted.

Oh I see sunshine - could you please, please send some over here to Northern Ireland - we've almost forgotten what it looks like! Your desk is certainly very organised - mine doesn't stay that way for more than about five minutes after I've tidied it!

Oh, Eliza your layout is fabulous! You've started back up again like a pro. :)
So happy you got the whole TH set of markers...I'm slowly working my way up, but my local store isn't participating very well! They've only gotten in 5 piece sets, and none with the white picket fence yet, which is the one I really want! lol But I did get a black soot marker in a 5 piece set last week so, baby steps... :)
I love the story about your ancestral house and the beautiful tree, how wonderful to be able to see it when you are crafting. I wonder if your grandpa thought, when he planted the Camellia Japonica, that one day he would have this amazing talented granddaughter and she would cherish its shade and delight in its beauty...
Hope you have a glorious week dear!
