Childhood Memory

Over at Simon Says Stamp & Show they are having challenges on a regular basis, this month’s challenge is to stamp and show a "Childhood Memory" post it on your blog and link it to them.

Well my childhood memories are of the Australian Bush. I was raised in the Snowy Mountains and occasionally visiting the city, the bush became a big wonderland full of all things amazing. Getting to the point my Poppy gave me a book called Snugglepot & Cuddlepie written by May Gibbs about the Aussie bush and its wonders. I have tried to duplicate just a little of it, this book is one of my all time favourites and the reason I am still an avid reader today.

Snugglepot & Cuddlepie are gumnut babies that go on a big adventure. They come across Banksia men and the closest that I could get to looking like a Banksia tree is a bottlebrush. The gumleaves and gumnuts I was lucky enough to have already.

I have used a bottlebrush stamp creator unknown and my first ever purchased stamp being the gumnut Leaves by Inky Pinky which is now a supplier of the past. The background is just a light paint wash. Everything has been painted using Lyra water-colour. Dimension has been added with multi levels and stickles to accentuate the bottlebrush flowers. This is a little hard to see with this picture and the camera didn't do it any justice either.

I hope you like my childhood memory.

Isn't it great that when you pick up the reading habit as a kid, it's a gift that stays with you to be enjoyed forever? :) The Design Team are really pleased that you joined us for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge this week - Thank you!
